I am the Dean and Head of House of Graduate House at St Paul’s College at the University of Sydney, and an author writing on the intersections of biology, culture, and technology.

My research at the Department of Zoology at the University of Oxford focused primarily on learning and cognition in birds, primarily using mallard ducklings as a model.

I was previously Fellow by Examination in Biological Science at Magdalen College, Oxford.

I am broadly interested in animal minds, how the brain represents and interprets information, and the applications of animal cognition research to artificial intelligence.
